Retail Management
Tips & Tricks [Report]

Retail management entails a combination of customer service,  direction, stock management, as well as control of fixtures and facilities. There are usually departments and specialty items that need management different from other areas. For instance, Wal-Mart's shoe department was handled as a specialty division that was not under the pervue of an in-store assistant manager. Allow me to address each of these issues in relation to management duties.

Customer Service

Of course, the hallmark of retail is providing customers with goods and services for their day-to-day functions. Whether you operate a mom-and- pop operation, sole-proprietor specialty store, department store, major discounter, club store, or other big box format store, all operations are the same. The function of office management has changed over time to include more IT and online functions and will include special functions specific to their industry. Although all office...  Members Read More...

Hotel Management Tips & Tricks [Report]

While the Hospitality Industry covers many areas, I am specifically interested in Hotel Management. The hospitality industry is more customer centric than the retail industry. Other than perhaps a gift shop or overseeing general food and beverage operations only as it relates to the hotel itself, the main items managed are the guests, employees, and facilities. It used to be that the front desk person might just check in people and answer phones. Because of the growth in the industry, it is much more intricate and is still changing! It also involves closing out the day while still servicing early check-outs or customer needs, and more computer functions. Let's look at management in hospitality.

Coming or New Trends

One area of improvement is technology. We all know that WiFi is necessary, but there is a problem with more people bringing devices. It used to be that a family or businessperson might bring a laptop to hook up to a wired system.  Members Read More...
